Should
I Be Using a Secondary Market Vendor?
Absolutely. Have you ever wondered what a secondary market vendor
is? Take a moment and let ReTele explain. Once you understand,
we’re certain you will see the value and benefit of including
a secondary market in your telecom model. Also, below are the
ideal ingredients to bring your company’s telecom solution
to “industry standard” level. Then ask yourself -
what’s the price of not having a relationship with one?
Ideal
Management of Northern Telecom System
Several key components to a solid telecom model (portions may
vary depending on desktop needs)
1.
In-House Telecom Staff. Help Desk, Desktop Personnel,
Project Managers that can handle current telecom needs. They are
the first line of defense - alerted first when there is a problem.
They attempt to isolate the problem and determine their role in
repairing it (whether in-house or vendor involvement is necessary.
2.
Cable Contractor. Many of the top distributors
no longer provide this service in-house - they contract out -
adding additional costs to the customer. Many reputable third-party
vendors provide voice and data services.
3.
Secondary Market Company. Supplier of desktop
hardware and/or backroom equipment to support that desktop (i.e.
line cards, transformers). A secondary market company typically
sells and supports any telecom equipment outside the CPU.
4.
Authorized Vendor. Provides software, upgrades, remote
monitoring. As the industry continues to evolve into a software-driven/server-based
technology, it is essential the you keep a strong relationship
with both your secondary market vendor AND your authorized vendor.
Going forward, many of the telecom technology issues will be software
related. Only an authorized vendor will be able to diagnose and
repair these software glitches.
5.
Applications Consultant. Hired to evaluate your current
system and make recommendations.
Where Does A Secondary Market Vendor Fit In?
Additions/Growth. Company expansion requires
additional resources - many times at a moments notice. Do you
call the telecom distributor to provide cable service? No. So
why use them for the hardware? If you have the talent in-house
to install the phones (place phone on desktop, program it, put
the line card in the desktop, and turn person on), use a vendor
that will give you a much better price point.
Issues
with Existing Telecom System. Maintenance also requires
attention. Turn to ReTele for replacement of hardware or upgrades,
also as a resource for problems with equipment.
